Please bring the following items with you to the office the day of your procedure:
- patient information forms
- insurance cards
- any payments including co-payment or deductibles
- a designated driver who is prepared to remain in the office throughout the duration of your procedure (if you are being sedated or going to sleep).
If you plan to be sedated or asleep during your procedure, please follow the instructions listed below.
*** If you are interested in the EMLA patch to numb your arm prior to I.V. placement, please arrive 30 minutes before your surgery and inform the front office. ***
Food/Drinks/Smoking
Absolutely no food, drink or smoking at least eight hours prior to your procedure as it can be life threatening. This includes chewing gum, Tic-Tacs, breath mints, etc. We recommend you shower and brush your teeth as normal without swallowing any water or toothpaste in the process. If you take medications on a regular basis, check with Dr. Keeley before taking them on the day of your surgery. We want you to take any blood pressure medication that has been prescribed by your physician. If you are instructed to take medications the day of the surgery, please take them with the smallest amount of water possible.
Clothing
Wear comfortable non-valuable clothing with short or loose fitting sleeves. We will need to access your arm for an I.V.
Valuables
Jewelry or other valuables should not be brought/worn to the office the day of your surgery. For your safety, we ask that you remove any tongue rings before coming into the office. We will not be responsible for lost/stolen items.
Designated Driver
A driver must accompany you to the office the day of your surgery. We also ask that the driver remain in the office during the procedure. Please note that we will not start the procedure unless your designated driver is present. Taxi cabs are not considered a designated driver. We do offer a designated driver service you can hire to take you and your car home. Please let the front office person know if you are interested in this service.
After Care
Make sure to have a responsible adult look after you for 24 hours after your surgery. Anesthesia and pain medication can make you groggy and unstable. Make sure to read all of your post-operative instructions given to you the day of your surgery.
If you have any questions, please call our office (702) 263-9339.
